The value of a contract to provide risk management on the £1.7bn A303 Stonehenge tunnel project has been slashed by 20%. Highways England started the search for a delivery assurance partner by publishing a prior information notice in December, which then valued the deal at £75m, but a tender notice published in June now puts the new five-year contract at £60m. Highways England said the reduction in the value of the contract reflects changes in scope. The successful consultant 'must be able to challenge contractors' processes and programme to achieve time and cost saving', according to the tender notice. The delivery assurance partner will also undertake all of the NEC4 contract management functions so Highways England can fulfil its role as project manager for the main construction contract. |
