The Ireland North centre hosted a webinar in January on the introduction of hydrogen to the transport sector in Ireland. Jonathan Hogan from Hydrogen Mobility Ireland and Mark Welsh from Energia discussed the latest innovations in hydrogen fuel cell technology and its impact on the transport sector in the UK and Ireland. The event was hosted by Michael Hutchinson from Transport Training Services (TTS) and was open to both members and non-members. As governments worldwide target net zero emissions by 20S0, hydrogen has emerged as an integral part of the solution to meet those goals, given that it can be stored seasonally and is versatile across industries. It is predicted that ten million tonnes of renewable hydrogen will be produced throughout the European Union from 202S-2030 and will be deployed at a large scale across hard-to-decarbonise sectors from 2030-2050. |
