A university partnership project has begun to explore how we can use public buildings such as concert halls safely while minimising the spread of Covid-19. AIRBODS (Airborne Infection Reduction through Building Operation and Design for SARS-CoV-2) is an 18-month study led by Loughborough University which, if successful, will provide guidance on how to design and operate non-domestic buildings with large gatherings of people. The project aims to assess the risk of transmission as a result of poor ventilation through a combination of experimental work, measurement of environmental factors in non-domestic buildings, and computer modelling. |
