RATP London's closure of its Quality Line business and Epsom garage (Buses p8 last month) ends a chapter of the London bus story that began with local service deregulation in October 1986. Epsom Coaches, owned then by the Richmond family and in business since 1920, branched out into local bus operation with commercial routes and tendered services on behalf of Surrey County Council, and by 2005 was the only 1986 newcomer in Greater London still operating bus services. RATP acquired the Epsom Coaches Group in April 2012 and closed the coach business five years later. |
