The English government relaxed Covid-19 restrictions from July 19, reducing social distancing and ending mandatory mask wearing on public transport. Some operators responded by bringing all seats back into use and allowing standing passengers. Others were more cautious, such as Nottingham City Transport, which advised customers: "Some seats, such as those nearest the doors and rearward facing, will remain closed." In Reading, the municipal operator is keeping the seats nearest the driver out of use, to be reviewed at the end of August. |
