Two newly restored Olympians - one Leyland and one Volvo - were among the stand-out participants in this year's North East Bus Preservation Trust rally at the Metrocentre in Gateshead on July 22. The Leyland was Northern General 3741 (B741 GCN), a 1985 vehicle with Cummins L10 engine and lowheight ECW body with 77 high-backed coach-type seats. It has been restored to National Bus Company "Venetian blinds" red, black and white livery with Expresslink branding and Go-Ahead Northern fleetnames that anticipated the identity the company would adopt when sold to its management in May 1987. |
