The West Riding Omnibus Preservation Society attracted over 30 vehicles to its golden jubilee rally at Heath Common, near Wakefield on June 27. This is the first of a series of events which culminate with the planned unveiling of its two restored Guy Wulfrunians at the Dewsbury Bus Museum on November 14. Preserved buses in action at Heath Common included East Yorkshire 674 (VKH 674), a Park Royal-bodied Albion Aberdonian new in January 1958. The Aberdonian, built in Glasgow between 1957 and 1960, was a lightweight version of Leyland's Tiger Cub. Large numbers were exported to Ceylon (Sri Lanka today) and Indonesia. This was the only one that East Yorkshire bought, along with six similar Tiger Cubs. |
