摘要: This research grant tested the hypothesis that a multi-faceted, community-based culturally integrated program could be disseminated in a low-income, racially diverse population in the southeast part of Dallas, Texas, in order to increase child safety seat (CSS) usage, child booster seat usage, and driver seat belt use in that population. A Safe Communities approach was used. The grant tested the replicability of a similar set of community-based intervention strategies that had been successfully developed and implemented by the Injury Prevention of Greater Dallas (IPC) using a similar approach for an Hispanic population in another geographic area of Dallas a few years earlier (AJPH 2002:92; 1096-1099). The target population included 3 zip codes in southeast Dallas County with a population of 177,000 including 29% African-Americans and 36% Hispanics. A comparison population in the far southwest part of Dallas County where no formal intervention was done, included 5 zip codes with a population of 143,000, with 23% African-Americans and 25% Hispanics. Appendix 1 shows a map of the target and comparison areas. / NOTE: Final rept. / Supplementary Notes: Sponsored by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, GA. / Availability Note: Product reproduced from digital image.
