The B40F-seated 12.1m StreetDeck-derived Wright single-deckers are numbered 2500-13 (XUI 8500-13) and have similar frontal styling to Eclipse 3-bodied Volvo B8RLEs supplied to East Coast Buses and Delaine Buses, but with the rear engine compartment of the double-decker; 2500 has been on test in the Nuneaton area, probably at the MIRA proving ground, while 2501 was demonstrated to management at Ipswich Buses on 17 February when it was trialled over local routes, and 2503 arrived at Milewater Service Centre a week later. New vehicles into service during January/ February were B29F-seated Optare Solo M9250SR 0014-6/8/21-5 (XUI 6614-6/8/21-5), Volvo Bl 1 R/Sunsundegui SC5 C53FL 1207-9/19 (XUI 7707-9/19) and H80F-seated Wright StreetDeck 3163-96 (XUI 8163-96). Of these, 00146/8/21 /2 are at Lisburn; 0023-5, 1207-9, 3163-5/88-96 at Coleraine; 1219 at Lame; 3166-71 Downpatrick; 3172-82 Foyle; and 3183-7 Newry. Similar Volvo Bl IRs 1210-5 (XUI 7710-5) were allocated to the engineering department during January/February for a period of fault-free running, of which 121 1/3-5 were observed at Dungannon depot on 6 February, though not available for service. Further StreetDecks taxed by mid-February, but not yet in service, were 3197-9 (XUI 8197-9) and 3330-40 (XUI 8130-40). |
