This is the second in Coastal Shipping's Fleet in Focus series of modestly priced glossy colour albums which began with Andrew Wiltshire's look at National Welsh from formation to collapse. Twenty years into the present century, it embraces a lot of change in the largest surviving arm's length municipal company in Wales. The buses that Cardiff Bus was running in 2000 included Volvo Ailsa double-deckers built in the mid-1980s and which lasted almost to the end of 2007. There were more Scanias here than in many other fleets, including 14 of the 17 Nll3CRBs built with Plaxton Verde bodies - acquired from dealer stock to meet additional commitments as National Welsh crumbled to dust. |
