David Brown is to retire as chief executive of Go-Ahead Group at the end of this year, after leading the business since 2011. Brown has spent almost 40 years working in the transport industry. He joined London Transport as a graduate trainee after graduating from Reading University in 1983. Centre West London Buses (privatised in 1994 and led by Peter Hendy, another former graduate trainee at London Transport) acquired Beeline and London Buslines from Q Drive (the company that acquired Beeline from the National Bus Company) in March 1996. At the time, David Brown oversaw CentreWest's Challenger and Ealing Buses routes in west London. He was appointed MD of Beeline after the acquisition. In 1998, he became Assistant Director of Operations at Go-Ahead London, before being promoted to Managing Director the following year. In 2003, he progressed further to chief executive - London bus at Go-Ahead Group. |
