摘要: More demand responsive schemes are coming to fruition, with some replacing fixed timetable bus services. In Scotland, Aberdeenshire Council is to pilot a demand responsive transport (DRT) service in the Inverurie area. It will replace all or part of seven existing bus routes, as the council seeks to reduce the cost of public transport provision. It says that it would save up to £60,000 a year and offer a 'similar or better level of customer service... using fewer peak vehicles.' The council had also considered a similar scheme in the Deeside area, but dismissed this after identifying additional costs of £110,000 per year. The council already runs the A2B dial a bus service, though this operates for limited hours and only between 09:30 and 15:30 on Mondays to Fridays. It is primarily a door-to-door service for people of reduced mobility, whereas the new DRT service is likely to operate on the 'street corner to street corner' basis of similar schemes.
