摘要: French train maker Alstom has announced that it will halt production of its innovative tram-inspired Aptis electric bus after outstanding orders have been completed by the end of the year. Alstom said sales of the Aptis, which was launched at the end of 2018, were not sufficient to justify keeping the model alive. With a steerable wheel at each corner, the 12m Aptis is fully low floor with three sets of wide double doors for access. It can carry around 100 seated and standing passengers and has a range between charges of 250km. The move comes only a few weeks after operator Compagnie des Transports Strasbourgeois (CTS) in Strasbourg, the first customer for the Aptis, withdrew 12 from service following what it called 'safety issues.' One bus suddenly reversed onto the pavement after setting off and crashed into a pole. No one was injured in the incident. "We decided not to continue taking risks," said CTS official Sebastien Lasfargue. "The buses were recalled by the manufacturer who came to the conclusion that there was a computer problem."
