Privately preserved 1922 London General AEC S Type S454 (XL 8962) was on the streets of central Birmingham on April 30 for the shooting of a film about the Art Deco ceramic artist Clarice Cliff. It forms part of a street scene i, shot in Corporation Street opposite the Law Courts in the second city (the red brick building is the Birmingham Magistrates' Court), in The Colour Room in which Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor plays Cliff. Other sequences have been shot around Stoke-on-Trent. S454, with 54-seat Dodson body, operated from General's Nunhead garage in southeast London from 1922 until it was sold in 1931. The late Michael Banfield rescued it from a scrapyard in Tring in 1965, taking it back to Nunhead for restoration. Among many subsequent public appearances, it was in Transport for London's Year of the Bus cavalcade and Regent Street display in June 2014. |
