Former China Motor Bus SF15 (CD 1446, a 1980 Leyland Fleetline with 86-seat Alexander CB-type body is currently the only preserved bus in Hong Kong with a valid vehicle licence, allowing it to run on public roads. It was photographed on May 13 on its way towards Tsim Sha Tsui along Nathan Road in Yau Ma Tei, while working under a community activity for children with special educational needs. SF15 was one of 30 short wheelbase Fleetlines with lowheight (13ft 8 1/2in) bodies that CMB bought in 1979/80 for use on physically restricted routes on Hong Kong Island. Twenty-eight of them were acquired by New World First Bus when it took over CMB's remaining franchised routes in September 1998 and SF15 was converted later to a mobile office that was taken to bus termini and other locations to promote staff relationship with front line employees. |
