Lodges Coaches is repowering its recently acquired 1962 Bedford SB3 with a more economical 330cuin Bedford diesel engine before putting it to work in its heritage fleet. Duple Super Vega-bodied 675 OCV began life in Cornwall with Crimson Coaches in St Ives and was Lewis Coaches of Henstridge, Somerset when Lodges acquired it last year. It has been repainted into the Essex operator's blue and cream livery and is being equipped with the diesel engine, which brings it closer to Bedford's SB5 specification. Also the petrol engine has been replaced by a 330 diesel so the coach will change from a SB3 to SB5. Lodges has also added a fifth Bedford OB to its heritage fleet. Duple Vista-bodied LTA 908, acquired from secure storage with a private owner, was new to Western National in December 1949 as its 1432 and was last taxed for the road in 1982. It was restored in the mid-1970s. |
