摘要: Conwy county borough has been placed on the TrawsCymru bus map with the launch on May 29 of the T19 service between Llandudno and Blaenau Ffestiniog. Further TrawsCymru expansion is on the cards, including an east-west route in the South Wales Valleys. The T19 is operated on behalf of the Welsh Government by Llew Jones of Llanrwst. It replaced that operator's X19, which itself was a replacement for the X1 service operated by Express Motors until the company's closure in December 2017. The T19 parallels the heavily subsidised Conwy Valley railway line. Bus and rail services both operate at approximately three-hourly intervals. Timings are staggered providing greater service frequency overall, unlike in the early years of the X1 when buses were timed to coincide with trains in an attempt to abstract passengers. Despite the competition between Express and train operator Arriva, they accepted each other's tickets - a useful facility on the many occasions when the railway was closed by wet weather. Now the bus and rail services are both funded by the Welsh Government but tickets are not inter-available, despite the government's rhetoric on integrating public transport. By terminating in Blaenau Ffestiniog rather than continuing to Maentwrog or beyond, the T19 does not connect with the T2 Bangor-Aberystwyth route. Journeys sue] as Llandudno to Dolgellau using the T19 would involve two changes of bus. Travelini Cymru recommends instead the circuitous route via Bangor, involving only one change but taking almost three times as long as the journey by car. The Welsh Government has ordered six electric buses for the T19 and future T22 service between Caernarfon and Blaenau Ffestiniog. It is expected that the T19 and T22 will connect at Blaenau Ffestiniog, where a depot with charging facilities will be provided for the new vehicles. Deputy climate change minister Lee Waters has revealed that planning is under way for a TrawsCymru service between the new Grange University Hospital, on the outskirts of Cwmbran, and Pontypridd. This will connect the central areas of several valleys via Pontypool, Newbridge and Ystrad Mynach. He said the pandemic had delayed the service's introduction. The government has been criticised for centralising many health services at the Grange without ensuring the hospital is sufficiently accessible by bus. "I don't have much patience, I'm afraid, or sympathy with government on this, because they were told about it and they were told about it five years ago," Labour Senedd Member Alun Davies said during a bus debate on June 23.
