Transdev is to rebrand Arriva's Yorkshire Tiger business as Team Pennine when it completes its acquisition of the company and its Halifax and Huddersfield depots within the next few weeks. It intends to sweep away the orange Tiger identity - created in October 2013 when Arriva took control of what had been a joint venture with Centrebus - and will introduce the new brand and magenta livery on a route by route basis over the next 18 months. In all, 163 employees at the Elland depot near Halifax and the one-time Yorkshire Traction depot at Waterloo in Huddersfield are set to join Transdev's existing workforce of over 1,200 employed at eight operating centres in Yorkshire and Lancashire. Transdev will take over all of Yorkshire Tiger's remaining routes other than trunk services 231/232 (Huddersfield-Wakefield) which will transfer to Arriva Yorkshire. "The new name symbolises our locally bespoke, people-centric approach," says Transdev Blazefield chief executive officer Alex Hornby. "Bus companies are all about the local people and local places they serve, and this brand completely symbolises how we intend to run this business. Our colleagues and our customers in Kirklees and Calderdale will be at the heart of our decision making and service delivery. "By starting afresh with a new brand, it helps us illustrate the positive impact we intend to bring. We have a long-term commitment to develop this exciting business, working with our new colleagues at Elland and Waterloo to build on Transdev's track record of success in other areas across the north of England. "While we have plans for step changes on day one of the takeover, which we will announce soon, we will be launching a long-term plan to transform the business over the following 18 months. Our ultimate vision is that the new Team Pennine company will achieve what we set out achieve elsewhere, to deliver buses that people will be proud to be seen on." |
