| 摘要： | Newport Transport aspires to be one of the first bus operators in the UK to run exclusively electric vehicles. This agenda is being pushed forward further by the Welsh government, which has its own ambitions to see Wales using a fully zero emission bus fleet by 2028. The operator's managing director, Scott Pearson, is a keen advocate of electric buses as well as the Yutong platform. All the electric vehicles currently in service with the operator, along with a further 16 on order, are Yutong buses. This electric journey began in 2019, with the purchase of a 2.5-year-old ex-demonstrator Yutong El 2 from Pelican Bus and Coach. It was a landmark vehicle not just as the first electric vehicle in Newport Transport's colours, but also the first electric bus in the UK to be delivered as part of a bus operator partnership with Zenobe. The company owns and ensures the performance of the vehicle's batteries and power infrastructure, making the process more commercially viable and capital risk averse. |
