The objective of this program was to measure the permeation emissions of the newer (MY 200 to 2005) California vehicles with gasoline containing ethanol at various volume percent concentrations: 0, 6, 10, 20, and on one system, 85. At the 6% ethanol level, two fuels were blended to meet different targets of total aromatics (designated as 'E6' and 'E6Hi') in order to evaluate the effect of this latter parameter on permeation. The study was initiated by the CARB staff and proposed by Harold Haskew & Associates, Inc. on June 2001. The emission tests were conducted during a period that ran between January 2003 and June 2004. This report presents the effects of three different fuels on the permeation rates of the fuel systems from ten different California vehicles, covering model years from 1978 to 2001. / NOTE: Final rept. / Supplementary Notes: See also PB2004-107340.
