Car retailers' September sales efforts will be focussed on buoyant margins in the used sector and increased aftersales business as supply issues continue to stall the production of new vehicles. Any optimism for what is normally the year's pivotal numberplate change month seems to exist away from fran-chised retailers' usual September staple. A little more than 65% of respondents told an AM survey they expect new car sales to be lower (34%) or much lower (32%) than the same period in a COVID-hit 2020. |
