摘要: In the US state of Illinois, a busy road section is being repaired with the assistance of a larger milling machine from Wirtgen. The W 220 Fi is being used to remove the road surface for the on-ramp and off-ramp to Interstate 55 in Bolingbrook in just two passes. The contractor opted to use the powerful Wirtgen machine because of its high output and productivity, as well as its efficient Mill Assist machine control system. Meanwhile, the Wirtgen Performance Tracker is recording all the key operating data from the job. The Mill Assist package optimises efficiency as it controls machine operation dynamically. It automatically adjusts engine speed and milling drum rpm, as well as the travel drive and advance rate, while optimising water consumption to the job conditions. The Mill Assist controls the two-speed Dual Shift powershift transmission as well as the engine rpm, so as to increase and decrease cutter speed. This system allows the large milling machines in Wirtgen's new F series to be used for a wide range of applications. For K-Five Construction, the W 220 Fi's drive concept was also a key benefit, optimising operation for milling long sections of road at smaller milling depths, as well as for working at larger milling depths. This helps reduce milling drum speeds, lowering fuel consumption and pick wear. And at higher speeds, the system also allows high-quality milling while covering large areas. For the two-layer removal of the entire road surface in Illinois, the W 220 Fi was equipped with a standard 2.5m milling drum fitted with 196 picks. The job was milled in the machine's ECO mode, minimising fuel consumption and tool wear, as well as reducing noise and CO_2 emissions.
