The synthesis documents current information on existing commercial motor vehicle safety certification, self evaluation, benchmarking, and best practices programs; identifies major common elements and protocols; and critically assesses evidence for the crash-reduction effectiveness of the programs. It includes a survey of truck carriers and other applicable industries and relevant organizations for their experiences.
