Results from large-scale hydraulic fluid spray fire tests have been compared with simulations of those tests using the Fire and Smoke Simulator (FSSIM) model. Using a model calibration data set, the sensitivity of FSSIM to several key inputs was evaluated; for the critical heat release rate (HRR) parameter, an adjustment factor was estimated to correct for unburned fuel. The resulting input parameters were then applied to similar data sets and the predictions compared with test data. In most cases, very good agreement was obtained.
