This report gives a broad description, based on the National Travel Survey 2005, of daily trips by public transport in Norwegian urban areas. It includes a special analysis of daily trips by public transport in Oslo. 11 per cent of these trips are made by public transport in urban areas. Although norwegian urban areas have experienced a substantial improvement in their public transport supply since 1992, there has been no increase in percentage patronage. The market potential for urban public transport is highest among men, among people aged 35-54 years, and among couples with children. When other factors are controlled for, the presence or absence of on-the-job parking opportunities is seen as the single most important determinant of public transport use among commuters. / Supplementary Notes: Text in Norwegian; summary in English. / Availability Note: Order this product from NTIS by: phone at 1-800-553-NTIS (U.S. customers); (703)605-6000 (other countries); fax at (703)605-6900; and email at orders@ntis.gov.
