摘要: All Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) pavement projects are accepted in accordance with one or more construction specifications. The purposes of these specifications are to provide guidance and establish minimum requirements that enable a quality product to be built. The final product must meet the expectations of the designer to protect public safety and provide the expected level of service. Researchers have found that owners and contractors agree that low-quality construction work often is treated no differently than high-quality construction work. However, these beliefs are based, at least in part, on subjective opinions and not on objective measures of construction quality. By adopting a construction quality index (CQI) - a rational measure of the overall quality of a constructed facility can be calculated by determining the quality of the individual components and linking them together to obtain a composite quality index for the job. The CQI can be used to rate the quality of the product produced by a contractor, to determine the contractor's compensation, or to lower or eliminate a contractor's qualification status. / Supplementary Notes: Sponsored by Florida State Dept. of Transportation, Tallahassee. / Availability Note: Order this product from NTIS by: phone at 1-800-553-NTIS (U.S. customers); (703)605-6000 (other countries); fax at (703)605-6900; and email at orders@ntis.gov.
