| 摘要： | Final report presents the desktop assessment and pilot scale studies for the purpose of evaluating water quality and pretreatment conditions for seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) using sweaters under the influence (SWUI) of freshwater runoff. One of the objectives was to evaluate and compare the performance of a SWRO system when using two different pretreatment systems at pilot scale; conventional multi-media filtration (MMF) and ultrafiltration (UF). The pilot study demonstrated that UF pretreatment led to better performance of the SWRO than the MMF pretreatment. The second objective was to evaluate the pathogen rejections of each treatment process (SWRO, MMF and UF processes) and ensure that the processes would meet pathogen related regulations. This objective was performed spiking pathogen surrogates to the pilot plants and the results showed that the process trains MMF-SWRO and UF-SWRO met and exceeded the pathogen related regulations. The last objective was to identify, evaluate, and compare at desktop level the available treatment options (e.g., second pass, ion exchange, or others) for removal of Low Molecular Weight Contaminants to achieve standards set by the Safe Drinking Water Act, World Health Organization, and goals commonly set by the municipal utilities. / Supplementary Notes: Sponsored by Bureau of Reclamation, Denver, CO.
