The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) surveys every state-maintained roadway in a two-year cycle. Images of the roads are collected digitally and viewed at workstations in the office. The five predominant distresses and their severities are determined and inputted into software that calculates a Condition Rating Survey (CRS) value, using models determined through previous research. The object of Phase 2 of this project was to revise the existing models and develop new models for pavement types that currently do not have models. The model form used consists of determining CRS as a function of roughness, rutting and faulting (where appropriate), and recorded distresses and severities. / NOTE: Interim proj. rept. / Supplementary Notes: See also PB2007-110362, PB2008-113462 and PB2008-113463.
