摘要: TO IMPROVE THE DEFINITION OF OUTSIDE NOISE MEASUREMENTS AND TO DEVELOP SATISFACTORY METHODS OF EVALUATING NOISE PROPAGATION, IT IS NECESSARY TO HAVE A THOROUGH KNOWLEDGE OF THE DIRECTION OF THE NOISE SOURCE, EG ROAD TRAFFIC. VEHICLE DIRECTION WILL BE INVESTIGATED TOGETHER WITH MODIFICATIONS IN DIRECTION DUE TO TEMPERATURE STRATIFICATIONS IN CALM SURROUNDING AIR. THE FIRST MEASUREMENTS WILL BE MADE AS FAR AS POSSIBLE ON REFLECTIVE SURFACES WITH A VIEW TO CONTROLLING THE EFFECTS SPECIFIC TO THE NATURE OF THE GROUND. A COMPARISON WILL BE MADE OF THE MEASUREMENTS MADE AT VARYING DISTANCES FROM VEHICLES AND GROUND HEIGHT AS A FUNCTION OF THE THERMAL FIELDS OF THE SURROUNDING AIR.
