PREVIOUS RESEARCH INDICATES THAT THE DEFORMATION PROPERTIES OF SURFACINGS MAY BE IMPROVED BY USING POLYMER-MODIFIED ASPHALTS, I.E. INCREASING COHESION BY POLYMER-MODIFIED BINDERS. A DETAILED EVALUATION OF THE PUBLISHED LITERATURE WITH RESPECT TO THE MECHANICAL/RHEOLOGICAL BEHAVIOUR OF POLYMER-MODIFIED ASPHALTS AND BINDERS IN RELATION TO CONSISTENCY AND TEMPERATURE, FIELD EXPERIMENTS TO CHECK POLYMER-MODIFIED ASPHALTS, AND COSTS BENEFIT CONSIDERATIONS, IS REGARDED AS NECESSARY. THE EVALUATION INCLUDES CONTINUING AND SUPPLEMENTING THE BIBLIOGRAPHY ON POLYMER-MODIFIED BINDERS. THE LITERATURE STUDY IS TO BE A BASIS FOR SUBSEQUENT EXPERIMENTAL WORK. |
