摘要: IN THE CURRENT GERMAN STANDARD DIN 1996, PART 6, BENZENE, TRICHLORETHYLENE AND METHYLENE CHLORIDE ARE GIVEN AS SOLVENTS FOR THE EXTRACTION OF BITUMINOUS MIXTURES. THIS RESEARCH IS CONCERNED WITH THE QUANTITATIVE RECOVERY OF BITUMEN FROM ASPHALTS, WITH THE PARTICULAR OBJECTIVE THAT THE RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF THE BINDER ARE NOT MODIFIED. BENZENE IS NO LONGER GIVEN IN THE LIST OF MAXIMUM PERMITTED MAK (MAXIMUM WORKING PLACE CONCENTRATION) VALUES FOR WORK IN THE LABORATORY AS IT IS DANGEROUS. THIS MEANS THAT IN FUTURE BENZENE MAY NO LONGER BE USED IN LABORATORIES AS A SOLVENT. THE USE OF TRICHLORETHYLENE IS ALSO DIFFICULT BECAUSE OF ITS RELATIVELY LOW MAK VALUE OF 50 PPM. THE USE OF METHYLENE CHLORIDE AS AN EXTRACTION AGENT IS NOT WELCOMED BECAUSE OF ITS LOW BOILING POINT AND HIGH STEAM PRESSURE. A SEARCH IS TO BE MADE FOR OTHER SUITABLE SOLVENTS, AND THE ACCURATE SPECIFICATION OF THE RECOVERY PROCEDURE IS TO BE BASED ON THESE SOLVENTS.
