FATIGUE TESTS CARRIED OUT ON COUPLINGS AS PART OF APPROVAL TESTS FOR PRESTRESSING METHODS RESULT IN A FATIGUE STRENGTH WHICH HAS NOT YET BEEN CHECKED FOR POSSIBLE USE IN EVALUATING THE SAFETY AGAINST FATIGUE FAILURE OF COUPLINGS EMBEDDED INTO CONCRETE. COMPARISONS HAVE TO BE MADE BETWEEN THE FATIGUE BEHAVIOUR OF FREE AND CONCRETED COUPLINGS TO OBTAIN REALISTIC INFORMATION ON THE SAFETY OF THESE COUPLINGS AGAINST FATIGUE FAILURE. FATIGUE TESTS ARE TO BE CARRIED OUT ON DEFLECTION BEAMS HAVING CONCRETED COUPLINGS, WITH AND WITHOUT SLACK REINFORCEMENT. STRAIN MEASUREMENTS ARE TO BE MADE. |
