PRECAST PRETENSIONED PRESTRESSED BEAMS ARE OFTEN USED, WHICH ARE CONNECTED TOGETHER ON A SUPPORT CONSISTING OF ORDINARY REINFORCEMENT. THE AIM OF THE RESEARCH IS TO CONDUCT AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF CRACKING AND FAILURE LIMIT STATES IN THE ZONE OF NEGATIVE MOMENT ON THE SUPPORT. THE TEST SPECIMENS WILL COMPRISE TWO 10 METRE SPANS, EACH SPAN CONNECTED TO A REINFORCED CONCRETE SLAB; THE CONNECTION WITH PASSIVATED STEEL IS ACHIEVED ON THE CENTRAL SPAN. IT IS ENVISAGED TO CONDUCT STATIC AND DYNAMIC LOADING TESTS TO REPRESENT SERVICE LOADS. FROM THE RESULTS OBTAINED ON THIS FIRST TEST SPECIMEN, PARAMETERS WILL BE DEFINED FOR THE REINFORCEMENT AT THE CONNECTION POINT AND OTHER TEST SPECIMENS SMALLER IN DIMENSION WILL ALSO BE TESTED. |
