HOW PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN JUDGE THE STOPPING CAPACITIES OF CARS AND PEDESTRIANS
项目名称: HOW PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN JUDGE THE STOPPING CAPACITIES OF CARS AND PEDESTRIANS
摘要: THE SPONTANEOUS AND OFTEN UNPREDICTABLE BEHAVIOUR OF CHILDREN IS FREQUENTLY THE CAUSE OF ACCIDENTS. IN PARTICULAR WITH PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN IT IS NOT CLEAR HOW MUCH THEY UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE DIFFERING ABILITIES OF PEDESTRIANS AND VEHICLES TO STOP. ABOUT 200 CHILDREN AGED BETWEEN 4 AND 6 FROM BOTH URBAN AND RURAL AREAS WERE ASKED WHETHER THE VEHICLE OR THEY THEMSELVES (PEDESTRIANS) COULD STOP MORE QUICKLY. THE FREQUENCY WITH WHICH THE CHILD TRAVELS IN A CAR AND THE REASON FOR THE ANSWER GIVEN TO THE QUESTION ON STOPPING WERE ALSO DETERMINED. ALL THE DATA HAVE BEEN COLLECTED AND A START HAS BEEN MADE ON EVALUATION.
