STUDIES OF THE PARTICLE SIZE DISTRIBUTION, NATURAL AIR VOLUME AND PARTICLE SHAPE OF VARIOUS NATURAL SANDS USED FOR CONCRETE ROAD CONSTRUCTION ARE TO BE MADE, AND THE COMPACTABILITY AND OTHER PROPERTIES OF THE CONCRETES MADE WITH THESE NATURAL SANDS - WITH AND WITHOUT THE ADDITION OF AIR ENTRAINING AGENTS - ARE TO BE EXAMINED. EFFORTS ARE BEING MADE, BY MEANS OF A SIMPLE TEST PROCEDURE, TO DETERMINE THE NATURAL AID VOIDS CONTAINED IN THE VERY FINE SANDS, SO THAT BEFORE THESE SANDS ARE USED TO MAKE CONCRETE IT CAN BE ESTIMATED WHETHER THE FRESH CONCRETE WILL HAVE A SPRING EFFECT. |
