DEPENDENCE OF ACCIDENTS ON TRAFFIC FLOW ON URBAN ROADS |
摘要: |
THE STUDY IS INTENDED TO SHOW WHETHER ON URBAN ROADS THERE IS A RELATION BETWEEN TRAFFIC DENSITY AND ACCIDENTS, AS HAS BEEN PROVED TO BE THE CASE ON FEDERAL MOTORWAYS AND TWO-LANED MAIN ROADS. THE WORK IS TO BE PRECEDED BY A PILOT STUDY TO DETERMINE THE SCOPE OF THE RANDOM SAMPLE NEEDED FOR COUNTING THE ACCIDENTS, AND THE WAY IN WHICH DATA FROM PERMANENT COUNTING STATIONS CAN BE USED. THE WORK IS TO BE CARRIED OUT IN TOWNS WHICH HAVE A TRAFFIC COMPUTER, AS VALUES OF TRAFFIC FLOW ARE EXPECTED TO BE COLLECTED OVER A LONG PERIOD. KARLSRUHE IS TO BE USED FOR THE PILOT STUDY. |
