摘要: THE OBJECT OF THE RESEARCH IS TO ESTABLISH THE SPECTRUM OF SURFACE TENSIONS ON WATER ON ASPHALTIC CONCRETE SURFACINGS WITH AN INTERFACIAL TENSITOMETER. THE LESS THE SURFACE TENSION OF THE WATER, THE GREATER THE STRESS ON THE INTERFACE BETWEEN STONE AND BINDER. IT IS EXPECTED THAT WITH LOW SURFACE TENSIONS OF THE "TEST MEDIUM" AFFINITY FAULTS WILL OCCUR. AS ALL WATER IMMERSION TESTS ON BITUMINOUS MIXTURES HAVE UNTIL NOW BEEN CONDUCTED WITH DISTILLED WATER (SURFACE TENSION CA. 72 DYN/CM), A RELATION IS TO BE DETERMINED BETWEEN RESULTS OBTAINED WITH DISTILLED WATER AND REDUCED SURFACE TENSIONS CORRESPONDING TO CONDITIONS ON THE ROAD. THE SWELLING OF MARSHALL SAMPLES AND THE DECREASE IN MARSHALL STABILITY ARE TO SERVE AS EVALUATION CRITERIA.
