The PIANC Permanent Task Group on Climate Change will present a panel discussion August 26 on resilience in the marine transportation system. "As new challenges unfold it is becoming even more important that those who manage, own and operate our global marine and inland waterborne transportation system incorporate resilience into their practices," states a flyer for the event. Titled "Assessing Resilience: Case Studies and a Path Forward for the Marine and Inland Waterborne Transportation System," the panel will highlight progress toward that goal. Panelists include Austin Becker, moderator, chairman of the Department of Marine Affairs at the University of Rhode Island; Katherine Chambers of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Engineer Research and Development Center; Craig Phillip of Vanderbilt University; and Paul Holthus, CEO of the World Ocean Council. |
