摘要: An effective hardening kit has been designed for the P-19 Firefighting and Crash Rescue vehicle which will protect the vehicle and operators from injury from submunition fragments in a postattack environment. The kit is designed to provide the vehicle and its occupants a 95 percent probability of surviving 100 random events, using the NATO Standard Fragment Threat Criteria. It consists of 36 mild steel panels, 7 Lexan(tm) transparent panels, 8 flexible Kevlar(tm) 49 panels, the appropriate fasteners for attaching the panels, and a set of spare wheels with tires filled with ARNCO Superflex, water-based polyurethane foam. The use of the hardening kit greatly enhances the safety of the firefighters and better enables them to perform effectively in a postattack environment. Complete drawings are available in hard copy and as Autocad drawings on computer disk through AFCESA/DF.
