Federal Legalization of Cannabis and its Implications for Pilot Fitness for Duty
项目名称: Federal Legalization of Cannabis and its Implications for Pilot Fitness for Duty
摘要: Flying an aircraft is a highly complex task requiring a significant level of cognitive function and psychomotor coordination. Cannabis can impair performance of complex tasks. Given the potential for federal legalization of cannabis in the near future, the Office of Aerospace Medicine needs to prepare to formulate a policy recommendation for determining a pilot’s fitness for duty after cannabis use. This project will seek to answer question, given recreational cannabis use, what is the elapsed time from last use until a pilot is reasonably likely to be (1) without impairment and (2) below the DOT drug testing detection threshold? This project will involve a comprehensive literature review and analysis, culminating in the formulation of evidence-based recommendations along with an assessment of the level/quality of evidence relied upon for the recommendations.
