(From back issues of the WJ) TEN YEARS AGO, C&C Boat Works delivered the 4,000 hp. mv. Marathon to Marathon Petroleum; the tow of the mv. Julie White struck the bullnose at Upper Mississippi Lock and Dam 25, and four barges wound up lodged against the dam; and American Commercial Lines announced it was eliminating the cook position on its towboats. TWENTY YEARS AGO, damage to a gate at Mel Price Locks caused a diversion of repair funds from Locks and Dam 27; John Hartford and his band performed on the Belle of Cincinnati for Industry Day; and Blount/Barker Shipbuilding signed a contract with Buchanan Marine to build a 2,400 hp., 85-foot, twin-screw tug. |
