Transportation Research Related to COVID-19
项目名称: Transportation Research Related to COVID-19
摘要: COVID-19 continues to have a significant impact on transportation systems across the United States at the national, regional, state, and local levels. Significant changes in the movement of people and goods have disrupted all transportation modes due to efforts to mitigate the disease’s community spread and providing continued access to services and care. The quick spread of this coronavirus has led to diminished staffing resources due to staff felled by the illness and the subsequent localized and global quarantine orders which significantly impacted air, transit, and highway travel demand. Cascading impacts such as lost toll, transit fare and air travel revenue, and supply chain adaptation require further study. A recent COVID-19 report provides a cross-sectional collection of research needs derived from several sources including notes from a brainstorming session which convened a group of transportation leaders. The topics-prioritized into immediate, intermediate, and long term transportation needs related to COVID-19- may be considered for future research to be pursued by TRB, USDOT, and others. Once research needs are prioritized, selected studies may identify any transferrable lessons learned that will be relevant to other transportation system disruptions.
