摘要: Blakeley BoatWorks (BBW), the ship-building subsidiary of Cooper/T. Smith, has built and delivered an EPA Tier 4-compliant towing vessel to sister compa-ny Cooper Marine & Timberlands (CMT).The mv. Gretchen V. Cooper is the Unit-ed States' first linehaul towing vessel to be powered by Tier 4 Caterpillar high-speed engines with selective catalytic reduction. Both Blakeley BoatWorks and Coo-per Marine & Timberlands are headquar-tered within the Port of Mobile, Ala.The mv. Gretchen V. Cooper mea-sures 110 feet by 33 feet, with a maxi-mum draft of 8.5 feet. The vessel offers 3,400 hp., courtesy of its two Caterpil-lar C3512E main engines from Thomp-son Caterpillar.Tier 4 engines offer a significant re-duction in emissions of particulate mat-ter and nitrogen oxides to near zero. Ac-cording to the companies, Tier 4 engines in applications like marine vessels can reduction emissions by 86 percent or more. Cooper/T. Smith President An-gus R. Cooper Ⅲ said Blakeley set the bar high when it came to building the Gretchen V. Cooper.
