The Huntington Engineer District celebrated the issuance of a certificate of inspection (COI) for the mv. Kenneth Eddy on March 5 at the Marietta Repair Station in Marietta, Ohio. U.S. Coast Guard Cmdr. Paul Mangini approved the COI for the vessel, named for former Huntington Engineer District em- ployee and towboat Capt. Kenneth Eddy. The boat was christened October 31,2006. It was constructed by Orange Shipbuilding in Orange, Texas. The inv. Kenneth Eddy is used for towing and tending the Light Capacity Fleet Unit (LCF). Guests for the event included U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson, Mangini and Col. Jason Evers, Huntington District commander. The Kenneth Eddy has accommodations for up to 11 crew members to stav aboard while it transports the LCF to various work locations. Based out of the Cumberland River Operations Center in Old Hickory, Tenn., the LCF performs repair work throughout the Ohio River basin. |
