| 摘要： | The Department of Defense (DoD), through the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia, procures and ships a variety of subsistence items to locations worldwide, including customers in the Western Pacific. Historic problems associated with shipments of perishable items include high transportation costs, spoilage, and irregular deliveries. This thesis documents and analyzes the processes currently used for shipments of produce to various DoD customers in Korea. Recent innovations in information management, controlled atmosphere container technology, "push" logistics, and global sourcing are discussed in addition to other possible enhancements that could improve customer service and cost effectiveness. |
