| 摘要： | A continuing concern of communities located near commercial airports is the amount of noise generated by aircraft during takeoffs and landings. At Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (Reagan National), the takeoff and landing paths generally follow the Potomac River north and south of the airport. In the early 1980s, residents of Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., who live along the river urged the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to change Reagan National's arrival and departure routes. After testing various alternative departure routes and receiving negative public reaction, FAA restored the original flight paths. Since then, local groups have expressed concern primarily about how FAA and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), which operates Reagan National, interpret and apply the local procedures and federal laws that may affect aircraft noise for flights to and from the airport. |
