A study of pneumatic transport of solids in 0.0254 m and 0.0504 m diameter pipes was conducted. Measurements included particle velocities and pressure drop. A model based on thermodynamic analogy was employed to describe the phase behavior of horizontal flows. Electrostatic effects to include equipment damaging discharges was discussed. A new design equation for particle velocity and pressure drop was presented. Keywords: Electrostatics, Particle velocity, Pressure drop, Horizontal, Pneumatic Transport, Thermodynamic Analogy. |
