Synthesis of Information Related to Highway Practices. Topic 50-04. Utility Pole Safety and Hazard Evaluation Approaches |
摘要: |
Roadway departure crashes account for more than 50% of the total traffic related fatalities and serious injuries, with utility poles representing the second largest group of fixed object fatal crashes. A 2015 report by Scott and Ivey found that roadside fatalities with fixed objects decreased by 39% over ten years while those involving utility poles were only reduced by 8%.
The objective of this synthesis is to summarize the strategies, policies, and technologies state transportation agencies (STAs) and utility companies use to address utility pole hazard safety concerns. |
