NCHRP has contracted a consultant to produce a communications strategy that will serve as a guiding document for all future communications activities undertaken by NCHRP. The strategy will (1) help NCHRP to inform our stakeholders and audiences about the program and its constituent parts; (2) provide guidance on developing relevant communications products to meet the specific needs of our stakeholders and audiences; and (3) promote, manage and expand NCHRP�s profile within relevant audiences.
As a broad outline, the communications strategy will: (1) Examine NCHRP�s current communications efforts: Conduct an audit of current communications efforts;
Map target audiences, their communications objectives, and what key messages are relevant to them, based on discussions with relevant stakeholders and NCHRP staff; Conduct a SWOT analysis of NCHRP�s communications capacity, including personnel, products, infrastructure, and so on. (2) Formulate a communications strategy: Develop a user-centric strategy that emphasizes target audiences, relevant communications products, and efficient distribution and dissemination methods; Conceptualize, draft, and design new communications products and services; Develop a timeline showing how various communications products would be rolled out to maximize their effectiveness (3) Recommend changes in current communications products and activities, and formulate new products and activities: Conduct an analysis of current development, production and distribution processes and recommend changes; Develop cost estimates for new communications products and activities; Provide guidance on the use of new and emerging media, and consumer trends and technology developments that can affect the communications strategy moving forward. |
