Evaluate Potential Impact of Truck Platooning on Texas Infrastructure
项目名称: Evaluate Potential Impact of Truck Platooning on Texas Infrastructure
摘要: As part of the rapid-developing autonomous and connected vehicle technology, truck platooning has been successfully tested in various states across the country. However, few studies have been done to evaluate the potential impacts of autonomous trucks and truck platooning. Furthermore, potential impacts of benefits, impediments, and solutions of autonomous trucks and truck platooning also need to evaluated. A study is needed to evaluate the potential impacts, impediments, and solutions to autonomous trucks and truck platooning. This research team will conduct an extensive literature review of US and international research on autonomous trucks and truck platoons with respect to potential impacts, benefits, and impediments. Objectives of the project will be to perform an analysis of the Texas on-system highway infrastructure to determine if there are potential impacts to the number of trucks that can be linked in a platoon. The project will provide quantitative information on the potential impacts and benefits of autonomous trucks and truck platoons and identify potential impediments and solutions to their deployment.
